Repeatability

Repeatability in infrared sensing refers to the consistency and reliability of measurements taken by the infrared instrument under the ranging conditions over multiple instances. It indicates how closely repeated measurements align with each other. Precision and repeatability are often considered synonymous, as both terms describe the consistency of measurements.

In contrast, accuracy refers to how close a measured value is to the true or actual temperature of the object being measured. While high accuracy ensures that the measurement is correct, high repeatability ensures that repeated measurements yield similar results. Therefore, repeatability is a precondition for correcting a measurement and often showcases the robustness of the measurement.

High repeatability is crucial in applications where consistent data is necessary, such as quality control or process monitoring.
