Product Description

The Optris CSvision R1M two-color pyrometer stands out for its ability to deliver consistent and repeatable results. Unlike single-color pyrometers, which rely solely on intensity measurements, the CSvision R1M utilizes a ratio-based approach, measuring infrared radiation at two closely spaced wavelengths. This method provides unparalleled accuracy, particularly as temperatures rise and an object’s emitted radiation increases across the wavelength range.

One key advantage of the CSvision R1M is its reliability in adverse conditions. Unlike single-color devices, this pyrometer can provide accurate results even when emissivity is unknown or changes with temperature. This is especially beneficial when the measuring spot is partially on the object or when the object is smaller than the pyrometer spot size.

The two-color measurement principle of the CSvision R1M ensures repeatable and accurate measurements under varying conditions, offering resistance to dust, smoke, steam, and dirty observation windows. The infrared sensor remains reliable even with up to 90 percent attenuation caused by changing transmissions in the optical path. Additionally, this approach allows precise temperature measurements when the object is not fully placed on the pyrometer spot or is in rapid motion.

The CS Vision series’ innovative video sighting and crosshair laser make aligning the sensor easy. The CSvision R1M also features motorized focus capability, allowing for adjustable focusing from 350 mm to infinity in the standard focus version and 200mm to 400mm in the close focus version. This flexibility makes the pyrometer suitable for various applications, enabling users to focus on targets at various distances.

The CSvision R1M offers a wide temperature measurement range from 550 °C to 3500 °C (1022 °F to 6332 °F), with superior optical resolution up to 150:1. The infrared thermometers’ internal motorized focus enables contactless measurements from variable distances. Moreover, the device’s system accuracy, measured at an ambient temperature of 23 ± 5 °C (23 ± 41 °F), is highly precise, with a deviation of only ±0.5% of the reading + 2 °C (±0.5% of the reading + 3.6 °F), ensuring reliable temperature measurements even in demanding industrial environments.

With flexibility in temperature ranges and various analog and digital outputs, including 2x 0/4 – 20 mA, 0 – 5 V, 0 – 10 V, USB, RS485, Modbus TCP, ProfiNet, and Ethernet IP, the CSvision R1M is adaptable to diverse industrial settings. The rugged design of the infrared pyrometers and German manufacturing ensure durability and accuracy, making it an ideal tool for critical temperature control in industries like metal and semiconductor manufacturing. The Optris CSvision R1M sets a high standard for excellence in non-contact temperature sensing technology.

    FAQs

How do I focus the CSvision?

To set the focus to the desired measurement distance you must connect the sensor with a PC, a mobile phone or a tablet using the USB cable. Please start the CompactPlus Connect software or IR mobile app. You will see the video beside the temperature-time diagram. The position of the measurement spot is indicated by a circle inside the video picture. The size of this circle is equivalent to the IR spot size. Change the focus by click and drop the Focusing bar.

How do I aim with a CSvision?

The CSvision has an integrated video camera which is using the same optical channel than the IR detector. In addition, the sensor has a cross laser aiming which marks the center of the measurement spot at any distance. The combination of video and laser sighting enables a perfect alignment of the sensor to the object. The integrated laser sighting supports the alignment and focusing of the optics. The position of the measurement spot is indicated by a circle inside the video picture.

    What is the BRF technology?

The BRF technology stands for brightness adjustment technology. This technology helps to avoid overexposed picture for the video camera. With the Brightness reduction filter, the pyrometer switches the brightness reduction filter in two steps.

    Is the laser dangerous?

The pyrometers laser is a class 2 laser with less than 1mW in the wavelength range of 500 nm to 650nm, according to EN 60825 1:2014. Do not point the laser directly at the eyes of persons or animals! Do not stare into the laser beam. Avoid indirect exposure via reflective surfaces.

    The laser switched off?

At ambient temperatures >50 °C (>122 °F) the laser will be switched off automatically. The laser should only be used for sighting and positioning of the sensor. A permanent use of the laser can reduce the lifetime of the laser diodes and might heat up the sensor.

Can I trigger the laser externally?

Yes, but the supply line for the sighting laser must be led via a switch or pushbutton, which has to be installed max 2 m (6.56 ft) away from installation site of the sensor for safety purposes. The laser can be activated/ deactivated via this, by the user on site to be installed switch, or via the software.

Can I use the CSvision as a 2-wire sensor?

Please do not connect a supply voltage to the analog outputs, as this will destroy the output. The CSvision is not a 2-wire sensor. Please review the CSmicro series, as this is a two-wire sensor.
