Calibration Source BR 400

.

The Optris BR400 is an infrared reference radiation source, commonly known as black bodies, and is used for calibration purposes. These sources are capable of generating various temperatures with high stability, which is crucial for accurate calibration. The precise measurement of radiation temperature can be achieved using either a contact thermometer (in conjunction with emissivity determination) or a transfer standard infrared thermometer. This measured temperature-related intensity value is then utilized to establish the device constant necessary for the initial calibration of infrared sensors. For post-calibration, whether by customers or local calibration facilities, it is important to calibrate at temperatures that closely match those encountered in actual applications. The BR400 features the ability to achieve radiator temperatures up to 400 °C (752 °F), offering excellent homogeneity, precision, and long-term stability. Its compact and rugged design makes it perfect for calibrating and testing infrared sensors.

FAQs

What should be the distance between the pyrometer and the calibration source?

Each infrared sensor is calibrated at a specific distance, depending on the device and its optics. Please, contact Optris for the correct calibration geometry.

How do I calibrate an infrared sensor?

The calibration process typically involves adjusting the sensor’s settings to match a known temperature, usually provided by a calibration source. This ensures the sensor’s readings are accurate. For specific instructions, please consult the device’s manual or contact Optris. A reference pyrometer is most likely required.
