Product Description

The Optris CT EtherNet/IP interface board ensures seamless integration and easy installation within Optris CT, CTlaser, or CTratio pyrometers. Featuring a 4-pin M12, D-coded connector, it supports industrial Ethernet with 100Mbit/s speeds and IP67 protection. The integrated software stack ensures reliable functionality, supporting essential pyrometer parameters. Configuration is simplified through an EDS file, with settings stored internally, maintaining functionality even if the electronic box is replaced.

Specification

General Specifications

  • Environmental rating: IP67 (Nema-4) (when installed)
  • Operating temperature: -20 °C to 80 °C (-4 °F to 176 °F)
  • Relative humidity: 10 – 95 %, non-condensing

Interface Board Characteristics

  • Port Protocol: EtherNet/IP
  • Transfer speed: up to 100Mbit/s full-duplex, auto-negotiation capable
  • Device class: adapter device
  • Device type: 06h
  • Connector: 1 x M12, D-coded

The CT EtherNet/IP module maps the object temperature, internal temperature, device status, and other Pyrometer data to its Input Assembly. It is then sent to the EtherNet/IP network using CIP. In the initialization phase, the CT EtherNet/IP interface board sends the device’s configuration data accessible for setup via the PLC programming software Controller Tags. Furthermore, using different classes, the CT EtherNet/IP interface board allows you to change a subset of sensor parameters in data exchange mode.

FAQs

How can I change the IP address and the IP mode?

Please use the EtherNet\IP Address Commissioning tool.

I have lost the USB Stick with the EDS file; what do I do?

You can download the EDS file directly from our website under the tab download.

Do I need additional cables?

Ethernet cables shall be ordered separately.

How do I configure the interface?

The easiest way to incorporate an EtherNet/IP device into a PLC programming software Project is by installing the EDS file and selecting the right module type. The interface is delivered in DHCP mode. For changing the IP address and the IP mode to static use the “EtherNet/IP Address Commissioning Tool”.

What is the difference between Ethernet IP and standard Ethernet?

EtherNet/IP integrates the physical Ethernet cabling with the Internet Protocol (IP) for networking, combining them within its additionakl application layer protocol to enable industrial communication.

How do I reset the interface?

The interface must be switched off. Press the SW button on the board and switch the box on in the meantime. The LED flashes red. Release the button the fifth time it flashes. The LED flashes green 5 times as confirmation.

What are the default settings?

The following settings are stored as default: IP-Mode: DHCP, IP address: 0.0.0.0, Subnet mask: 0.0.0.0, Gateway: 0.0.0.0.

How do I install the Optris CT EtherNet/IP interface board?

Install the board inside the electronic box of your CT, CTlaser, or CTratio pyrometer. Ensure the 4-pin M12, D-coded connector is placed on the left side of the box. Secure the board using the provided screws and connect the wires as per the color coding: Blue (RX-N), White (RX-P), Orange (TX-N), Yellow (TX-P).

Can I connect multiple devices to the same network?

Yes, but each of the devices must get an own IP address but they must be in the same subnet.

Which connector is used?

The industrial interface has a 4-pin, M12, D-coded connector.

Where are the network settings stored?

The network settings are stored on the interface board, which communicates with the Optris devices via the serial interface. The network settings remain on the board when the Optris devices are exchanged.

What parameters can be mapped and monitored using the EtherNet/IP interface board?

The board supports mapping and monitoring of object temperature, internal temperature, device status, and other pyrometer data.

Can I adjust parameters dynamically during operation?

Yes, the device offers dynamic parameter adjustments during operation, which can be accessed via different classes in the PLC programming environment.

How to distinguish between network interfaces?

All Network interfaces for Optris CT series have the same hardware, to distinguish between different industrial interfaces the different times flashing of the I4 LED must be considered after powering the interface.
1 x flashing means Ethernet TCP/IP / Modbus TCP
2 x flashing means EtherNet/IP
3 x flashing means Profinet
