The pyrometers high optical resolution enhances precision and allows distance-to-spot size ratios of 150:1 (2ML) and 300:1 (2MH), ensuring accurate temperature readings even from far distances. The infrared sensor maintains exceptional system accuracy, with deviations of ±0.3% of reading +2 °C (±0.3% of reading +4 °F) at an ambient temperature of 23 ± 5 °C (23 ± 41 °F), providing reliable radiometric temperature data for various metal applications. Additionally, these infrared thermometers outstanding repeatability, with variations of ±0.1% of reading +1 °C (±0.1 % of reading 1.8 °F) under similar ambient conditions, highlights its consistency and reliability in temperature monitoring tasks.

The InGaAs detector, with a specialized short wavelength spectral range of around 1.6 µm, accurately measures temperatures in hot metal applications. This thermal non-contact sensor is frequently used in these applications, including processing steel, tungsten, iron, nickel, and semiconductors.

The CSlaser is a versatile instrumentation tool that can function as an analog device, providing a 4-20 mA signal and including an alarm output (open collector). Equipped with a standard two-wire interface, the infrared sensor ensures easy cabling and reliable data transfer to a PLC. For digital communication, the optional USB programming kit is necessary. This kit, in combination with the software, enables fast sensor parameterization and the recording and analysis of measurement data. In digital mode, the sensor and the laser are powered via the 5 V from the USB interface. The infrared sensor offers two modes of digital bidirectional communication, allowing data to be sent and received in both directions, and a unidirectional mode where the sensor only sends data in burst mode. Furthermore, the CSlaser can operate in digital mode while simultaneously functioning as an analog device, with the sensor powered by the USB interface.

A remarkable feature of the CSlaser 2M series is its double laser aiming marks, which indicate the actual spot location and provide valuable information about the spot size. This visualization ensures operators have a clear understanding of the measurement area, enhancing temperature monitoring accuracy, supporting exact alignment, and reducing measurement errors. The two laser beams follow the infrared optical path to mark the position of the measuring spot at any distance, unlike many IR thermometers with single lasers that only mark the center of the spot. The Optris CompactConnect software improves the functionalities of Optris fixed infrared pyrometers, offering various monitoring, analysis, and control features beyond basic temperature measurement. It includes features like visualizing temperature trends with temperature-time diagrams and documentation. The software enables data logging, automatic process controls, parameterization of the pyrometer via configuration settings, and setting up programmable outputs and inputs. Additionally, it provides advanced signal-processing functionalities. Compact Connect The Optris IR mobile allows users to set up and commission an Optris infrared pyrometer or infrared camera with an Android smartphone or tablet. This tool becomes handy for commissioning and aligning the infrared cameras field of view or adjusting the configuration. The app analyzes the connected infrared cameras live infrared image stream with auto hot and cold spot detection. For pyrometers, a temperature-time diagram or the video signal is displayed.     How can I change the scaling, emissivity, or other settings?

    The Optris CS kit (ACCSMIACC) and the software CompactConnect must be used to change the pyrometers settings.

    Can I set up the CSlaser 2M pyrometer for digital communication?

    The optional USB programming kit is required for digital communication. Using the terminal block, connect each wire of the USB adapter cable with the same colored wire of the sensor cable. The sensor offers bidirectional and unidirectional digital communication. Bidirectional communication allows for the sending and receiving of data between the sensor and a computer. Unidirectional communication supports a fast burst mode of data in which the sensor only sends data.

    Does the CSlaser 2M support an open collector output?

    Yes, an additional open collector output is supported. The open collector output is an additional alarm output.

    Can I connect the CSlaser 2M to a smartphone to adjust the settings?

    The CSlaser 2M sensor can connect directly to an Android smartphone or tablet. The IR mobile application monitors and analyses infrared temperature measurements on a connected Android smartphone or tablet. The phone powers the CSlaser 2M pyrometer.

    How far can I position the CSlaser 2M from the target?

    The measuring object’s size and the infrared thermometers optical resolution determine the maximum distance between the sensing head and the measuring object. The object should fill out the optics’ field of view to prevent measuring deviations. Consequently, the spot should always be at least the same size as the object or smaller. The spot size refers to 90 % of the radiation energy.

    How do I aim with a CSlaser?

    The infrared sensor has an integrated double laser aiming, which helps align the sensor. The measuring spot is located within the two laser points. At the focus point of the appropriate optics, both lasers cross and merge as one dot, marking the minimum spot. The two laser points are for orientation only.

    Is the laser dangerous?

    The pyrometers laser is a class 2 laser with less than 1 mW in the wavelength range of 500 nm to 650 nm, according to EN 60825 1:2014. Do not point the laser directly at the eyes of persons or animals! Do not stare into the laser beam. Avoid indirect exposure via reflective surfaces.

    The laser switched off?

    At ambient temperatures >50 °C (122 °F) the laser will be switched off automatically. The laser should only be used for sighting and positioning of the sensor. A permanent use of the laser can reduce the lifetime of the laser diodes and might heat up the sensor.

    Can I trigger the laser externally?

    Yes, but the supply line for the sighting laser must be led via a switch or pushbutton, which has to be installed max. 2 m away from installation site of the sensor for safety purposes. The laser can be activated/ deactivated via this, by the user on site to be installed switch, or via the software.

    What is required to install the CSlaser infrared sensor in the CoolingJacket Advanced?

    The connector version is needed to install the CSlaser sensor in the CoolingJacket Advanced.
