Accessories for Infrared Cameras
Explore Optris' accessories for optimal integration of IR cameras in extremely rough and hazardous environment
The Optris Commitment to Industrial Deployment
The Optris infrared camera product line is deployed worldwide in a variety of applications including research and development applications but the most common placement for Optris IR cameras in is industrial process environments. Metal, plastics, glass, automotive and scores of other process industries use Optris cameras in harsh industrial environments 24 hours a day; seven days a week.
That is why Optris is one of the only infrared camera manufacturers to augment its rugged IR camera product line with a full product line of accessories designed in Germany by the same engineers that design our IR cameras. Our cooling jacket designs are informed not only by an understanding of external radiant heat loads but also by an intimate understanding of where our cameras generate heat and how to channel that heat effectively away from the camera body.
Our air purging systems are developed with direct customer feedback and powder filled testing chambers that help us visualize and understand how particles and vapors interact with our lens surfaces. Our shutter systems receive a signal from an Optris pyrometer positioned under the glass and close over the IR camera optics in less than 100 milliseconds to protect it from a shower of glass shards when the glass breaks.
Before you purchase an infrared camera for your industrial environment, check out the accessories built for that camera that not only insure camera survival but also guarantee critical accurate temperature measurements for years after installation.
Cooling Jacket Advanced
The Cooling Jacket Advanced was designed to protect the Optris Precision Line (PI-Series Cameras) and accessories from harsh industrial environments. Because image and temperature data are transmitted to a PC located away from the process, it is critical to insure that the cooling jacket has provisions for not only protecting the camera but also for mounting and cooling the USB Gigabit Server that sends this data via ethernet to the PC.
Cable cooling systems have also been engineered to extend the ambient operating temperature for the cables from 250 °C (482 °F) without cable cooling to to 315 °C which matches the protection offered the camera mounted in the cooling jacket. The same cooling jacket also has provisions for mounting the industrial process interface module that can communicate temperature or alarm information directly to your PLC. The Cooling Jacket Advanced includes an integral air purging system and also has a mounting interface for the more robust laminar air purging system for severe dust or vapor filled environments

Xi-Series Shutter System
The Xi-Series Shutter System protects the IR camera optics from falling debris or excessive periods of exposure to dust or vapors that could coat the optics and impact the accuracy of temperature measurements. The mechanism not only closes over the optic. It retracts into the face of the optic to prevent any contamination that could coat or damage the camera lens. In standard mode, the system reacts to inputs in 100 milliseconds (ms) but the system also includes a special fast-closing mode that will close the optics 30 ms after signal input is received from a PLC or external Optris pyrometer through the included shutter control box. The shutter can also be closed remotely on-command from PIX Connect software through the industrial process interface module. The shutter system has been designed to be used with or without the cooling and air purging accessories.

Xi-Series Air Purge System
The laminar air purge accessory for Xi-Series cameras is highly recommended for environments where dust or vapors could coat the camera optics attenuating the IR signal. It is designed to work with our without the water cooled housing or shutter system. The air purge system has been designed to move airborne contaminants past the camera optics from any of four different user selected directions optimizing the efficiency of purging based on the unique particulate circumstances of each mounting location.

Outdoor Protective Housing
Many IR camera deployments need to support areas fully exposed to outdoor environments. To support these applications, the Outdoor Protective Housing has been designed to protect both PI and Xi series Optris cameras in temperature environments from -40 °C/ °F to 50°C (122°F). The housing features an integrated heater and fan that engage at a user set temperature threshold. The housing also includes provisions for mounting and external terminals for the USB Gigabit server for applications to support a long distance ethernet connection to the remotely located PC hosting the PIX Connect software. Mounting and external terminals are also included for the Industrial Process Interface which can communicate temperature and alarm signals to your PLC.
Air purging is integrated into the external window to keep the window free from attenuating dust or vapors. A variety of infrared windows are available for the various detector and wavelength response variants in the Optris product line.

Optris state-of-the-art infrared sensors are designed to operate continuously in hot environments, providing precise and reliable non contact temperature measurements. Nevertheless, accessories for infrared cameras are frequently overlooked in its complexity and as and essential cost factor in other competing setups.
For seamless integration into your industrial processes, Optris offers additional mechanical interfaces, high temperature cabling, interface and housing options. The affordable wide range accessories offered by Optris ensures optimal performance and protection as a complete solution in various demanding industrial applications. Optris offers a universal outdoor protection housings, capable of withstanding cold and hot ambient temperatures ranging from the -40 °C to 50 °C. These robust housings ensure reliable performance in diverse outdoor environmental conditions, making it and indispensable addition to enhance the durability of Optris infrared cameras and temperature sensors.
The Optris Cooling Jacket Advanced for cameras stands as a testament to reliability and durability in hot environments. Specifically engineered and manufactured in Germany to safeguard the infrared camera in high-temperature surroundings, this cooling solution can effectively operate with air up to 100 °C and water up to 315 °C. The Cooling Jacket Advanced not only ensures the longevity of the device but also facilitates the integration of additional components like PI NetBox, USB Server Gigabit, and the Industrial Process Interface (PIF). In industrial settings, where dirt, dust and smoke is prominent, Optris air purge collars come into play to ensure a clean optic. Available in different sizes to accommodate various devices, these collars provide protection against settlements of dirt. The laminar air flow technology takes center stage in our commitment to maintaining a clean and dust-free environment around the lens.
The continuous and uniform airflow minimizes the settling of dust on the lens, guaranteeing the longevity of the infrared cameras performance. Optris offers and array of protective windows to further enhance the robustness of the measurement devices. These optical accessories act as a barrier against harsh environmental conditions, vacuum or heat. The protective windows and mounting accessories are designed to withstand challenging industrial environments, making them and indispensable addition to integrate Optris products. Shutter mechanisms play a crucial role in safeguarding cameras from impacts. The shutter are closed for added protection, ensuring that your infrared sensor remains shielded when not in use.
This feature contributes to the overall longevity and reliability of the device, especially in environments prone to dirt, dust or debris from breaking glass. To prove the accuracy and precision of cameras, the devices can be acquired with a Certificate of Calibration, traceable to PTB or NIST standards.
