Calibration Source BR 20AR

The BR 20AR is an ambient temperature reference source for enhancing the accuracy of Optris PI and Xi infrared cameras.

The BR 20AR is an ambient temperature reference source designed to enhance the accuracy of thermal imaging cameras like the Optris PI and Xi infrared cameras. The black body operates within a temperature range of 18°C to 33°C and features a high emissivity radiator ideal for precise infrared temperature referencing. The device integrates a 16-bit digital temperature sensor with a ±0.1°C accuracy, ensuring reliable measurements. With dimensions of 200 x 200 x 82 mm and a weight of 2.5 kg, it is compact and suitable for ceiling and wall mounting. The BR 20AR blackbody connects via a 5-pin process interface connector, facilitating easy plug-and-play installation and significantly reducing camera uncertainty, achieving a system accuracy of down to ±0.5°C.
  • Reference radiator with high emissivity
  • Improves accuracy of Optris infrared cameras
  • Integrated 16-bit digital temperature sensor with 0.1 °C accuracy
  • Includes Mounting bracket
  • Plug-and-play installation with 20 m cable

FAQs

How can I improve the system accuracy of an infrared camera?

To improve the specified camera accuracy of, for example, the PI 450i T010 camera, a reference source with a high emissivity and a stable and known temperature must be positioned in the scene proximate to the subject to be scanned.
The BR 20AR Ambient referencing source has a temperature probe with +/—0.1 °C accuracy. By integrating this highly accurate reference signal to our PIX Connect software, we can reduce camera uncertainties resulting from device adjustment, ambient temperature drift, and short-term stability to a system accuracy of +/—0.5 °C.

How does the BR 20AR work with fever screening applications?

The BR 20AR is a rugged reference source ideally suited for referencing thermal imaging cameras. The BR 20AR radiator can be mounted on a ceiling or wall, allowing flexible placement at almost any distance from the infrared camera and the subject. It requires a reference measuring area of at least 3x the MFOV within the camera’s field of view. The temperature of the blackbody is measured with a higher precision temperature probe and correlated to the infrared cameras measurement. The radiator’s ambient temperature should match that of the person being measured. Avoid installing it near windows or air conditioning systems, as airflow can affect measurements. The camera should focus on the person being measured, and even if the radiator is out of focus, it won’t impact the measurement because it shares the same ambient temperature. Ensure the subject is within the camera’s depth of field range. For optimal skin temperature measurement, the area of the medial canthus is recommended. At this point, there is a very good correlation to the body’s core temperature.

How can I prevent damage to the BR 20AR’s radiation surface?

To avoid damage to the special coating, please do not touch the radiation surface with sharp or spiky objects.
